Building on the momentum of the growing number of securitisation transactions in Africa since the inaugural forum in 2022, Asafo & Co. co-organized, again alongside Deloitte, the second African Securitisation Forum on 16 November 2022 in Lomé, Togo. The forum this year was organised on the sidelines of the Africa Financial Industry Summit (AFIS) and brought together over 120 key players in the African capital markets industry. This year’s event focused primarily on the WAEMU zone, but also addressed Africa-wide trends and the outlook for 2024.
In addition to our co-organisers at Deloitte, we are extremely grateful to the IFC (World Bank Group), the West African Development Bank (BOAD), the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM) and GCR Ratings, as well as JOSEPH TITRISATION SA, Africa Link Capital, KF TITRISATION S.A and BOAD Titrisation for their continued support and valuable contributions to the forum. In particular, we were honored to have among our key speakers, the honourable Sani Yaya, Minister of the Economy and Finance of Togo; Serge Ekué, President of the BOAD; Sergio Pimenta, Vice-President for Africa of the IFC; and Félix Edoh Kossi Amenounve, President of the BRVM (African Securities Association).
Asafo & Co. has advised on the majority of the securitisation deals in the WAEMU zone and is also involved in developing the securitisation market in other African regions. We look forward to continuing to be an active player in the market and leading future African Securitisation Forum events.
