Building on the recent uptick in securitisation transactions in Africa, Asafo & Co. co-organized, along with Deloitte, the first African Securitisation Forum, which took place on 30 November 2022 in Lomé, Togo. The forum has set out to become the go-to platform, both through its annual event and on an ongoing basis throughout the year, to learn about the latest technical and financial developments in this fast evolving segment. The inaugural forum in Lomé, which brought together over 120 participants and 100 online, focused primarily on the specific securitization market of the WAEMU countries, but also addressed Africa-wide issues and trends.
We are extremely grateful to the World Bank Group World Bank, the West African Development Bank (BOAD) and the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM), as well as JOSEPH TITRISATION SA, Africa Link Capital, KF TITRISATION S.A and BOAD Titrisation, whose support and valuable contributions, enabled Asafo & Co. and Deloitte to successfully launch the forum.
With a total of 12 securitisation transactions since 2014 in the WAEMU zone, amounting to XOF 1,065.8 billion (approximately USD 1.7 billion), of which 6 took place in the last two years alone, Asafo & Co. has advised on most of the region’s securitisation deals, making the firm instrumental to the market’s development in Africa.
